Designing and Using Rubrics for Teaching, Grading and Assessment Date: Friday, October 9 Students and faculty often perceive the meaning and function of grades differently. Grading rubrics offer one way for you to communicate your grading standards and feedback clearly, objectively and effectively. Moreover, they can help you more quickly and systematically assess student learning. In this interactive session, we will discuss the whys and hows of grading rubrics, including how you know when you have a good one and how to avoid common pitfalls. Participants will also learn about assessment/grading software and design or refine a rubric for an assignment of their choice.
