Since 1992, the Teaching Resource Center has been supporting junior faculty through mentoring programs such as the University Teaching Fellows Program and, more recently, the Excellence in Diversity Fellows Program. Both Programs provide structured and sustained mentoring to junior faculty. They also offer an orientation to senior faculty who serve as mentors and consultants. With these pages, we share resources we have developed, collected from the literature, and obtained from other programs around Grounds. We hope you find them useful and invite you to email Dorothe Bach (bach@virginia.edu) with your comments and suggestions. We would also be happy to add links to your mentoring initiatives and/or to materials you have found helpful. If you are interested in creating new or enriching existing faculty mentoring programs, individual TRC staff members are available for consultation. Possible topics include best practices in designing, implementing, and assessing a faculty mentoring program; approaches to orientation and training for mentors and mentees, among others.
