OUTSTANDING
FACULTY AND GTA TEACHING AWARDS
Deadline: February 17,
2003.
The Provost's Office and the Teaching Resource Center are proud to administer
this program of a dozen faculty teaching awards, 28 school/department-wide
Graduate Teaching Assistant awards, and four All-University GTA teaching
awards.
TEACHING
+ TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVE (TTI)
Deadline: February 3, 2003.
This program, funded by the Provost and ITC, will sponsor two faculty
fellows with projects integrating teaching and technology.
TEACHING
+ TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT PARTNERS (TTSP)
Deadline: February 24,
2003.
The TTSP Program, funded by the Provost and ITC, trains a graduate student
to provide faculty within a department or school with technical support
in using new technologies for teaching innovation. Schools and departments
with a substantial undergraduate population are eligible. The program
will select four departments or centers to join in 2003.
UNIVERSITY
SEMINARS (USEMS)
Deadline: January 24, 2003.
University Seminars are designed to give first-year students the opportunity
to study with faculty members in a seminar environment that encourages
intense interaction and discussion. Seminars meet for two hours once a
week and carry two hours of credit. USEM course proposals should be approved
by Departmental Chairs (Arts and Sciences) or by the Dean in other schools
and then forwarded to the Office of the Provost, P.O. Box 400308, Booker

TEACHING
PORTFOLIO WORKSHOP
Applications considered beginning March 3, 2003.
Create your own teaching portfolio in conversation with faculty and TA
colleagues from across the University and with the help of your own personal
coach. The workshop will meet the mornings of May 13, 16, and 22 and will
not be offered again until 2005. Two complimentary lunches and workshop
materials are included. Applications considered beginning March 3, 2003.
UNIVERSITY TEACHING FELLOWSHIPS
Deadline: March 10, 2003.
With summer grants of $7,000 and ongoing, interdisciplinary discussions,
the University Teaching Fellows Program aims to help our most intellectually
sound and successful junior faculty members develop into exceptionally
fine teachers.
GRADUATE
STUDENT ASSOCIATESHIPS
Deadline: April 7, 2003.
The Teaching Resource Center employs several Graduate Student Associates
(GSAs) to help promote excellent teaching at U.Va. and, especially, to
consult with other teaching assistants. Each position involves working
from mid-August through May for between six and eight hours per week at
an hourly wage of approximately $12 to $13.
